Abstract: The myth of the cave is perhaps the best-known allegory in ancient philosophy. It is one of the parables by means of which Plato introduces us to philosophy, indicating a pathway to knowledge. The allegory shows Socrates, Plato’s teacher, explaining to his interlocutor Glaucon the road towards becoming that the philosopher should follow. Romanian scholars (philosophers, literary men, translators, etc.) use in their writings the term “myth” to refer to Plato’s allegory. în contrast, the allegories presented in the canonical Gospels are typically called “parables” (in Romanian pilde, parabole) by the Romanians. in other languages and other linguistic universes, the conceptualization occurred differently than in Romanian. We ask ourselves, why? What is a myth and what is a parable? Why is the same object a myth in the linguistic universe of one cultural space and a parable in the linguistic cosmos of another? Is the translation of parables, myths, and concepts contained therein a simple translatory motion, a roto-translation, or a (convergent? divergent?) sequence of translations and rotations that transforms thoughts into words, words into facts, facts into fate, fate into myths and the myths back into thoughts? Myths are synchronic and diachronic means of knowledge as different as the languages in which they were created. Many have understood this, but even more have not understood that languages themselves are myths.
The paper is intended as a search for an adequate means of communication among groups of people with different myths and languages, yet living in a globalized world. It is certain that this means must be sought in a real area delimitated by two virtual extremes: on the one hand, the adoption of all myths and languages (the utopian limit), and, on the other hand, the deconstruction of myths and the universal usage (by peoples and by elites) of a single language (the limit of stupidity).

Abstract: Currently the Bukovina Germans that are still living in Bukovina speak Romanian with their children and grandchildren. The German language skills which some of the Germans possess, were acquired within the family, from family members that now are over 70 years old, or do not exist anymore. In Bukovina schools, German is present, but in most cases, it is taught and learned with less efficiency than other modern languages. Some historic events and linguistic policies promoted in Romania after 1918 led to a particular linguistic behavior among the Germans and the German-speaking population, which initially started with hybridization and bastardization of the mother tongue and ended with the relinquishment of its use and transmission to future generations. Political, economical and cultural changes which occurred after 1990 led to destigmatization, but not to a revitalization of competent use of German in everyday (family, social, cultural and religious) life of German people that still exist in Bukovina.

Abstract: The translator should not be perceived as a simple producer of texts based on other texts, but as an expert, with skills, tasks and precise responsibilities, who works in cooperation with other "actors", that are part of the translating process. Text translating is not a simple linguistic act, but a complex one, that involves Linguistics, Hermeneutics (because texts must be interpreted) and Semiology (because signs and symbols must be decoded). In this paper is being explained the difference between translation studies (or translatology) and the linguistic theory of translation and why translatological concepts like “purpose”, “adequacy” and “actor” (as they were defined by Reiß, Vermeer and Mänttäri) are essential and necessary required for a complete description and a responsible fulfillment of translating acts.

Abstract: It is known that qualified and motivated employees are the most valuable asset of an enterprise. Wise companies develop wise motivational policies. The human resources specialists are striving to optimize intrinsic and extrinsic motivation tools, in order to ensure employee satisfaction. On the other hand, the every day social interaction of people is a dynamic phenomenon with many specific aspects. A typical aspect of human behavior is that people strive, knowingly or unknowingly, to gain social and professional prestige and an increasingly better image in the eyes of other individuals. In this process, their way of speaking is very important. Sometimes they adapt their speech acts to certain discursive types (for instance, when they talk about their job or their professional status).
