Abstract: The Danube represented a geographical frontier for both
modern and ancient political structures. Nevertheless, the
prehistoric finds from both sides of the Iron Gates area have
shown that the river has never functioned as a cultural and
physical barrier, and permanent communication between the
two sides has been documented. In the Late Iron Age, more
precisely Late La Tène period, the mix character of the archaeological
finds proves that this time span makes no exception.
This has been discussed in terms of ethnic identity and interactions,
encouraged also by the heterogeneous structure of
the population presented in the ancient texts. Until now, the funerary discoveries in the area represent only individual and
small groups of burials, for which the belonging to a necropolis
could be observed in some cases. Many of the finds represent
only part of a burial, while in some cases publication does not
allow reconstruction of individual burial complexes. I will present
the results of a comparative analysis of the intact burials
from both sides of the Danube in the Iron Gates area, while
taking into consideration also isolated and collective finds
from necropolis sites, focused on inventory structure, funerary
expression and gender attribution, from the Late La Tène
period. Furthermore, a comparative discussion of the archaeological
material from the contemporaneous settlements in the
area will be introduced for a better understanding of the cultural
phenomena as a whole.

Titlu articol: Monetary circulation in urban and rural contexts of Roman Dacia in the 3rd century AD. General and specific patterns
Coautori:
Cuvinte cheie: monetary circulation; urban and rural settlements; Dacian provinces; general and specific patterns.
Abstract: The aim of this study is to identify how monetary circulation relates to administrative structures, juridical and economic site categories of the Roman Empire, respectively urban and rural sites and those involved in production and commercial activities, during the 3rd century AD, a period of important political and monetary changes for the area subject to this study. There were analyzed single coin finds from the above mentioned categories of sites from the Dacian provinces grouped on the following model: main settlement – rural hinterland / territorium. This type of investigation has led to the identification of monetary patterns determined by geographical proximity and similar economic functions, as a result of the existence of shared historical context and exchange possibilities. Finally, further remarks about the monetary pattern related to the abandonment of Dacia were possible.
